    NERSP: UNIX Services at NERDC

    The NERSP system is a multi-node RISC/6000-based IBM SP/2 Scalable Parallel processor complex, running AIX, IBM's implementation of the UNIX operating system.

    To access the free text-only ("lynx") World Wide Web browser available on NERSP, log in using the userID ufinfo . The default 'home page' for this browser is the University of Florida home page: http://www.ufl.edu/ . All other logins to NERSP require a NERDC userID and password.

    Obtaining Software

    If you do not have the appropriate software (telnet, tn3270) on your computer, your WWW browser will give you an error message, such as "Helper Program Not Found" when you select one of our "Sign On" links.

    If you wish to try downloading and installing the necessary software, the NERDC Information Services Software FTP page has links to sites offering appropriate shareware and freeware applications.

    Once installed on your workstation, the software will need to be identified to your WWW browser, in order for these links to work. In Netscape this is done via the

    Options --> General Preferences--> Applications
    panel.

    If you have questions about this software, or need assistance installing or configuring it, please contact the UF Computing Help Desk either by telephone, at 352/392-HELP, or by e-mail at <helpdesk@ufl.edu> .

    Please Note: Some of the software accessible through this page is offered as "Shareware." This means that, while you are allowed to download, install, and try it out for free, if you determine that it meets your needs, and you continue using it, you are ethically and legally obligated to register the sofware according to the provisions in the license information which accompanies the program.
